How can I identify fraudulent websites?

Fake websites often look deceptively real. Here’s how to protect yourself:

  • Check the URL carefully: Watch for small differences, such as an extra or missing letter in the web address.
  • https and padlock icon: Legitimate sites use https encryption and display a padlock in the browser bar.
  • Don’t click links in suspicious emails: These often lead to fake websites.
  • Use bookmarks: Access important sites via bookmarks/favorites.
  • Never enter sensitive data on unfamiliar devices.

If in doubt: Forward phishing emails to internetsecurity@viseca.ch and have your card blocked immediately if you suspect fraud.
