What is contactless payment and how does it work?

Contactless payment enables fast and secure transactions by holding your card with the contactless symbol or your mobile phone with an activated card no more than 4 cm from the payment terminal. Data is transmitted securely using NFC technology:

• Security: Each payment uses a unique cryptogram, preventing data from being intercepted.
• Data protection: No personal information such as your name is transmitted.
• Confirmation: A sound or display confirms the payment.
• PIN: No PIN is required for amounts up to CHF 80.-, authentication is needed for higher amounts.

Your card or mobile phone remains in your hand throughout the entire process, providing additional protection.
